Radon Testing

John Achin is a certified Radon Measurement Specialist. He is a member of the National Radon Safety Board (certification #8SS0078) and conducts radon tests in accordance with EPA standards. He uses a Sun Nuclear continuous radon monitor (CRM) which records indoor radon levels hourly. John knows that time is precious during a real estate transaction. At the end of the testing period, John is able to read the results directly from his computer – no need to send the test to a lab and await results. The CRM is the only method of radon testing that is able to determine if tampering has occurred.

Cost of Radon Testing when included with a home inspection: $125.00

Cost of Radon Testing without a home inspection: $175.00

Results can be available the same day as the home inspection, if the radon monitor can be set up in the test location a few days prior to the home inspection!

The EPA and U.S. Surgeon General recommend that all homes be tested for radon. The EPA estimates that there are over 20,000 radon-related deaths per year in the United States. It is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the United States. About 1 in 15 homes have elevated indoor radon levels above 4 pCi/L.
